Self-Esteem

Self-esteem

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing that is stupid” – Albert Einstein

We are all so different and we see each-other in so many ways. We make judgments and we form opinions about people we meet. Our interactions with them are based on these judgements and opinions.

Your self -esteem is your view about yourself. It is your belief about how you are and what you can do.

You have high self-esteem if you believe that you are able to manage well situations that you find yourself into, if you have initiative and do things without someone else telling you what to do or if you have achievements that you are proud of.

You have low self esteem if you believe that you are not capable of coping well with your reality or if you always wait to be told what to do.

We all perceive reality differently and we also learn or take in information differently. If you are constantly being told that you need a lot of help, that you can’t manage on your own that you’re not able to look after yourself, you begin to believe it and act accordingly. You may be very timid or shy and may feel very uncomfortable in social situations. You might believe that everyone else is more interesting or funnier than you are. You may find that conversation does not come naturally to you. So what? The truth is that we all have insecurities and, as time goes by, we become aware and we learn to deal with it.
